Privacy Notice

Who we are

Salt & Paper Digital is a sole trader digital marketing consultancy. We take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

For any data protection queries, please contact us.

What personal data we collect

We collect two types of personal data:

Client data (collected directly from you):

  • Your email address
  • Your name
  • Any other information you choose to share with us in correspondence

Website visitor data (collected automatically via Google Analytics):

  • IP address (anonymised)
  • Browser type and device information
  • Pages visited and time spent on the website
  • Approximate geographic location (country/region level)

How and why we use your data

Client data is used for:

  • Communicating with you about your project or enquiry
  • Delivering the services you have engaged us to provide
  • Retaining records of our work together for legal and administrative purposes

Our lawful basis for processing client data is:

  • Contract — processing is necessary to deliver the services you have requested
  • Legitimate interests — retaining project correspondence to protect both parties in the event of any future dispute

Website visitor data is used for:

  • Understanding how visitors use our website so we can improve it (analytics only — we do not use this data for advertising or profiling)

Our lawful basis for analytics is:

  • Consent — analytics cookies are only placed on your device if you accept them via our cookie consent banner

We do not use your data for marketing purposes and will not contact you after your project or retainer contract is complete unless for legitimate reasons relating to your work.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies. Cookies are small text files placed on your device to help the website function and to collect usage information.

We use the following types of cookies:

  • Essential cookies — necessary for the website to function. These cannot be switched off.
  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) — these help us understand how visitors use our website. They are only set if you give your consent via our cookie banner.

You can withdraw your consent for analytics cookies at any time by adjusting your preferences via the cookie settings on our website, or by adjusting your browser settings to block or delete cookies.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google LLC, to collect and analyse website usage data. When you accept analytics cookies, information about your use of our website is transmitted to and stored by Google on servers which may be located outside the UK.

Google Analytics uses IP anonymisation by default, meaning your full IP address is not stored. Google acts as a data processor on our behalf and is subject to Google’s own data processing terms.

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, available at: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

How long we keep your data

Client data:

We retain project correspondence (including email communications) for ten years following the completion of your project.

Website analytics data:

Analytics data is retained within Google Analytics for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted by Google.

Who we share your data with

We share data only with the following third party:

  • Google LLC (Google Analytics) — solely for the purpose of website analytics, and only where you have given your consent

We do not sell or share your personal data with any other third parties.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of any inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data (where we do not have a legitimate reason to retain it or we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.)
  • Object to our processing of your data
  • Withdraw your consent for analytics cookies at any time
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us. We will respond within one month.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
